Building Joy Through Precision Roofing

At American Roofing and Metal, our motto is “Love What You Do.” Nowhere is that more evident than when we have the opportunity to give back to the community that has supported us for generations. One of our most cherished projects was the construction of “Jenna’s Playhouse,” a collaboration with Kosair Charities and the Building Industry Charitable Foundation.

Jenna, a courageous five-year-old with spastic diplegia cerebral palsy, dreamed of a playhouse of her own. Our team was honored to join forces with Jeremy Esposito of Esposito Construction to turn that dream into a reality.

Expert Application: Synthetic Slate & Copper Details

While Jenna’s Playhouse is a space for play, the roofing system we installed is a professional-grade masterpiece. This build allowed our craftsmen to showcase the same high-end techniques we use on luxury residential homes and historic commercial buildings across Kentucky and Ohio.

  • EcoStar Synthetic Slate: We selected a synthetic slate system to provide the timeless look of natural stone without the extreme weight, ensuring the structure remained safe and durable for years of play.
  • Custom Copper Work: Our team installed copper flashings, valleys, and ridges. Copper is the gold standard in roofing for its longevity and its ability to develop a beautiful patina over time.
  • Integrated Snow Guards: Even on a playhouse, safety is paramount. We included snow guards to prevent “snow slides,” mimicking the safety standards we implement on full-scale industrial and residential projects.

A Lasting Impact in Louisville

The playhouse was originally debuted at the Kentucky Exposition Center during the Louisville Home and Garden Show before being delivered to Jenna’s home. This project stands as a testament to what can be achieved when local contractors work together for a greater cause.

Frequently Asked Questions About Specialty Roofing

What are the benefits of a Synthetic Slate roofing system? Synthetic slate, such as EcoStar, offers the aesthetic beauty of traditional slate but is made from recycled materials and is significantly lighter. It is a highly durable, eco-friendly option for homeowners in the Tri-State area who want a premium look with less structural reinforcement.

Why is copper used in high-end roofing? Copper is naturally corrosion-resistant and can last over 100 years. It is often used in “valleys” and “flashings” (the areas where roof planes meet) because it is malleable and provides a superior watertight seal compared to standard aluminum or shingles.

Does American Roofing & Metal handle custom residential projects? Yes. Whether it is a luxury home requiring copper accents or a community project like Jenna’s Playhouse, we apply the same “Love What You Do” craftsmanship to every residential, commercial, and industrial job in the Louisville, Lexington, and Greater Cincinnati regions.
